CZ: Lze konstatovat, že student Sven Marx v rámci řešení své diplomové práce, zaměřené na návrh modulového trubkového výměníku tepla, souhrnně splnil veškeré požadavky zadání. Při řešení práce se řídil pokyny vedoucího práce a dosažené výsledky práce jsou celkově na velmi dobré úrovni a lze je přímo využít v praxi v dané odborné oblasti. Avšak při stylistickém, jazykovém a grafickém zpracování své práce projevoval menší pečlivost a ukázněnost, jež technická práce tohoto typu vyžaduje, čímž zbytečně formálně snížil úroveň vlastní práce a dosažených výsledků. Z pohledu vedoucího práce proto hodnotím předloženou diplomovou práci známkou B/velmi dobře. EN: It can be stated that student Sven Marx, within the solution of his diploma thesis, focused on the design of a modular tube heat exchanger, collectively met all the requirements of the assignment. During solving the work, he followed the instructions of the supervisor and the achieved results of the work are generally at a very good level and can be directly used in practice. However, in the stylistic, linguistic and graphic processing of his work, he showed less care and discipline, which technical work of this type requires, thus unnecessarily formally reduced the level of his own work and the achieved results. From the point of view of the thesis supervisor, therefore, I evaluate the submitted diploma thesis with a grade of B/very well.

The submitted thesis focuses on the thermal-hydraulic design of a modular, cross-flow heat exchanger. The author first provides the basic theory, and then briefly discusses the intended application of the exchanger and the most important data obtained for the initially chosen design using HTRI Xchanger Suite (HTRI XS). In the process, the author also touches on the corresponding HTRI XS workflow. Finally, water distribution in a single module is analysed via Computational Fluid Dynamics. The results yielded by three different adiabatic (or isothermal) models are presented and compared. Strangely enough, however, the geometry of the module is not the same as the one that had been used previously during the HTRI XS simulation. In the Conclusions, the author evaluates the obtained results, while the Appendix contains the required drawings. The objectives, therefore, have been met. It is unfortunate, then, that as far as the formal side is concerned, the thesis leaves a lot to be desired. Although the structure is adequate, the text contains a large amount of typing, grammatical, and stylistic errors. Sentences with missing words are abundant as well. Many quantities used in the provided equations are left explained, and the equations themselves are predominantly low-resolution screenshots from the electronic version of VDI Heat Atlas. The thesis is written in English, yet the German decimal comma is used instead of the English decimal dot. Figure or table reference errors (resulting in the “Error! Reference source not found.” warning) and the remnants of the Microsoft Word’s “Track Changes” feature can also be encountered. Despite the formal deficiencies mentioned above, the results presented by the author are valuable. Overall, I grade the thesis “very good”/B and recommend it for defence.
