Posudky závěrečné kvalifikační práce

Publikované výsledky a také celý postup práce studenta hodnotím jako vysoce nadprůměrný. Za velmi zajímavou považuji kapitolu 3.4.4. "Experimentální výsledky adaptivního řízení DC motoru", která ukazuje velmi jednoduché použití RLS pro online identifikaci modelu systému a tento model používá pro přímovazebnou kompenzaci.

The work documented in the thesis submitted by Mr. Brablc deals with the adaptive control of a particular class of nonlinear systems. The approach taken integrates the feedforward + feedback—also known as composite control—approach with a local approximation method to estimate the plant’s inverse dynamic model, which is then used in a feedforward compensator. The proposed algorithms were thoroughly tested using computer simulations as well as in physical experiments with actual electro-mechanical hardware exhibiting nonlinear dynamics. The results obtained were analysed in sufficient detail, and the resulting control algorithm was even customized and tuned to allow it to be implemented on a standard microcontroller with limited computational resources. This makes Mr. Brablc’s work more practical and more relevant to real-life applications, which are often characterized by the limitations and constraints of the available hardware. It is clear that Mr. Brablc has worked hard on this project and that he has managed to obtain excellent results in a way that is both theoretically and practically sound. Moreover he managed to document this work clearly and concisely in his thesis. For these reasons I believe that Mr. Brablc deserves the excellent grade for his Master’s work.

Why not choose a 32 or 64 bit floating point microcontroller (or dsPIC) to implement the algorithm?
Can your algorithm be modified to handle nonlinear Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems (e.g. an inverted pendulum on a cart)? What are the main steps in doing so, and how do you expect it to perform?
Did you consider the use of stochastic filters (like the Kalman Filter and Extended Kalman Filter) for estimating the derivatives from the noisy signals? How do you expect them to compare to your solution?
Did you encounter any works (in literature) that use neural networks (such as Gaussian Radial Basis functions or MLPs) to estimate the unknown nonlinear inverse-model functions? Do you expect that these functional-adaptive techniques offer any advantages when compared to the proposed approach?
