Mathematics for Applications
Browse by
Mathematics for applications publishes original papers of a high scientific level in all branches of mathematics with an emphasis on applications of results in mathematics itself and other disciplines. Published by the Institute of Mathematics of Brno University of Technology since 2012, this international journal builds on Publications of Technical and Scientific Papers of the Technical University of Brno (ISBN: 80-214-020-X), a renowned journal published by the University until 1990's.
It had provided a platform for the international mathematical community to publish research papers and, after its disappearance, we decided to found a new mathematical journal to continue this service. Issued biannually on an open-access basis, the journal has English as the only language of communication.

(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)For a long time, non-sinusoidal, non-linear electric circuit analysis has been a prevalent topic. The supplementary analysis tool and domain are subjects of debate in many scientific groups, leading to a range of norms and ... -
On complex trinomial roots distribution
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)The paper deals with a certain trinomial with two strictly complex coef- ficients. The root locus technique is utilized to obtain a distribution of roots with respect to a unit circle in the complex plane. A number of roots ... -
On the ultra-quasi-tight extensions
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)In their previous paper [4], Künzi and Olela Otafudu constructed the ultra-quasi-metric hull of a T0-ultra-quasi-metric space. In this article, we continue these studies by investigating the tightness and essentiality of ... -
Topologies induced by graph metrics on the vertex set of graphs
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)This paper presents a method of constructing topologies on the vertex set of a graph G induced by open balls with respect to the graph metric viz. geodesic distance, detour distance, circular distance and circular D-distance ... -
All maximal unit-regular elements of Relhyp((m),(n))
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)Any relational hypersubstitution for algebraic systems of type (τ, τ′) = ((mi)i∈I , (nj )j∈J ) is a mapping which maps any mi-ary operation symbol to an mi-ary term and maps any nj-ary relational symbol to an nj-ary ... -
Some remarks on neutrosophic T0 -spaces
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)This paper is devoted to the study of the T0 separation axiom for a neutrosophic topological space. We give a categorical study of these spaces in a special case of neutrosophic topological spaces called neutrosophic ... -
Properties of a firm’s factor demands, optimal production correspondence, and an economy‘s aggregated supply/demand
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)Many theoretically beautiful conclusions of the producer theory were derived on the common assumption that every firm attempts to maximize its profit and minimize its cost, while all firms employ the same methodology in ... -
Connections between matrix products for 3-vectors and geometric algebra
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2023)The geometric product represents a core concept for establishing geometric algebras and in case of vectors matches the formal sum of their inner product and their wedge product. The geometric product is reconsidered for ... -
On Bourbaki-bounded sets on quasi-pseudometric spaces
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2022)In metric spaces, a set is Bourbaki-bounded if and only if every real- valued uniformily continuous function on it is bounded. In this article, we study Bourbaki-boundedness on quasi-pseudometric spaces. It turns out that ... -
Bayesian variable selection for linear regression with the κ-G priors
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2022)In this paper, we propose a method that balances between variable se- lection and variable shrinkage in linear regression. A diagonal matrix G is injected to the covariance matrix of prior distribution of the coefficient ... -
On μ-proximity spaces
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2022)The purpose of this paper is to introduce the notion of a μ-proximity base and to explore some properties and results of μ-proximity spaces. We show that the collection of all μ-proximities constitutes a complete lattice. -
Closed form expressions for curved surface area of revolution of hyperbolas: A hypergeometric function approach
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2022)In this paper, we provide the exact expressions (not found in the liter- ature) for the curved surface area of revolution (about the x-axis and y-axis) of horizontal and oblique hyperbolas. Closed-form expressions for the ... -
The trade-off between goals and uncertainty of outcome in professional team sports
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2022)Based on an assumption of an existing scoring probability difference be- tween two teams engaged in a football match, the conditional probability distri- bution given the number of goals in the match for the low quality ... -

Some effective results concern- ing the existence and uniqueness are obtained by applying the ... -
Compositions and decompositions of binary relations
(Vysoké učení technické v Brně, Fakulta strojního inženýrství, Ústav matematiky, 2022)It is well known that to every binary relation on a non-void set I there can be assigned its incidence matrix, also in the case when I is infinite. We show that a certain kind of “multiplication” of such incidence matrices ... -
