Za zrkadlom slovenskej identity

Abstract

Ostáva ešte problematika kolektívnej identity v rukách spoločnosti a inštitúcií, alebo sa nekontrolovane, ako tržná komodita, stáva obeťou ekonomického oportunizmu a rastúceho nacionalizmu? Aky odkaz smerujúci k seba-identifkácií generuje dnešné Slovensko? Na jednej strane sa nachádzame v období historicky najvyššej ekonomickej prosperity, na strane druhej však nevytvárame prostredie, ktoré by nám pomáhalo v sebaidentifkácií. Ikonami dnešnych miest sa s despotickou sebaistotou stali komerčné objekty. Tie verejné sa s pod zámienkou fnančnej “optimalizácie” stávajú homogénnymi kulisami. Ideové a fyzické prostredie vzdelávacích a kultúrnych inštitúcií trpí v porovnaní s európskym priemerom podfnancovaním. Snahy vymaniť sa z provnincionalizmu 90-tych rokov a redefnovať spoločenské sebavedomie sme odstavili v novych podzemnych garážach pod Bratislavskym hradom. Práca je kritickou úvahou nad slovenskou politikou v kontexte vzdelávania a kultúry. Stavia k sebe zdanlivo nesúrodú vedu a voľné umenie a ich spojením sa snaží vytvoriť nové prostredie pre kritickú spoločenskú sebarefexiu. Cielom práce je návrh novej budovy Slovenskej akadémie vied obohatenej o sekundárne funkcie.

Does the question of collective identity still remain in the hands of companies and institutions, or is it rather becoming an uncontrolled marketable commodity and a victim of the economic opportunism and growing nationalism? What selfidentifying legacy is Slovakia building today? On the one hand we live in the era of historically high economic prosperity, on the other hand we are not creating environment which would help us to identify ourselves. The commercial buildings have become the despotic temples of today's cities. The public buildings are turning into stage props in the name of fnancial “optimization”. Ideological and physical environment of educational and cultural institutions sufers from being underfnanced in comparison with the European average. The eforts to put an end to the 1990s’ provincionalism and to redefne our social self-esteem are suppressed at the expense of the boundless polished ofce areas.
