This thesis deals with possibilities of scalar data visualization applied to confocal microscope data. In this work, principle of confocal microscope is described (very succesfully in my opinion) and it is concentrated on so called back-to-front method according to assignment. In present, this method is understood as an application of expression which is cited as (31) in thesis. However, the phrase "back-to-front" does not describe data processing itself but direction of data processing only. Data in this direction may be processed in different ways. Some of these possibilities are described and it can be considered as authors own contribution. It is possible to find some formal imperfections in mathematical text, however, they do'nt decrease general level of work. Work assignment was very difficult for author because she did not attend neither the subject Image Processing nor Data Visualization which solves a small part of these problems. Work goal was fulfilled in its entirety yet. Student often consulted her results, the majority of them was discovered by herself. Regarding the above mentioned, I evaluate this thesis as excellent.

The aim of this master thesis is visualization of confocal microscope data by means of so called back-to-front methods class. Back-to-front algorithms are based on mathematical models of light propagation through the semi-transparent environment which is described by environmental properties of a different stage of complexity. This class of algorithms represent a significant step forward being compared with still used maximum intensity algorithm. Proposed and implemented algorithms are described correctly including necessary mathematical and physical background. Presented results are rather impressive and they illustrate large possibilities of back-to-front visualization algorithm. The text contains some amount of formal errors and imperfections. For example in def. 10 on page 11 there is the assumption that u, v are non-zero vectors missing and number 0 is by mistake denoted as a vector. The assumption that vectors must be non-zero ones is omitted not only in def. 10 but in more places in the text as well. These mistakes I consider to be minor and they do not devalue the work. Finally I evaluate this master thesis as excellent.
