The doctoral thesis of Ing. Josef Vychodil focuses on methods in millimeter wave wireless channel measurements and proving the concepts in the use-case of automotive applications. The dissertation thesis is original in several aspects. This can be proven: - By 18 records on Web of Science (IET Communications, Eurasip Journal On Wireless Communications And Networking). with 55 citations in total. Josef’s key publication “Millimetre wave band time domain channel sounder” was cited four times. - By an active participation in several national and international research projects. Outputs of Josef’s research are of a high practical impact: - Implemented a measurement setup that was used in the project GACR Research into wireless channels for intra-vehicle communication and positioning - Applied his knowledge of the real-time signal processing to develop an RF sniffer tool that is used to monitor communication in RFID setups and became a successful commercial product. Josef was also highly engaged in educational activities at the university: - He supervised 1 bachelor and 2 diploma theses. - He contributed to lecturing and leading labs and updating laboratory and computer exercises in several courses oriented to RF communications. In my opinion, Josef Vychodil meets all usual requirements on a PhD candidate. I therefore fully recommend the PhD thesis authored by Josef to be defended.
