    Pre-race characteristics and race performance in hyponatremic and normonatremic finishers of Czech ultra-races.

    The aim of the study was to compare pre-race characteristics, race performance and plasma sodium [Na+] levels of hyponatremic and normonatremic ultra-endurance athletes and choosen variables in all finishers (n = 138). We assessed age, gender, club membership, pre-race training history and experience, pre-race body mass and body mass index (BMI) in 138 finishers of ultra-races (stage mountain bikers, 24-hr mountain bikers, 24-hr ultra-runners and 100-km ultra-runners) and post-race plasma [Na+] in a subgroup of 113 ultra-athletes.

    Civil protection, survival and physical fitness

    The development of education in civil protection shows a continuous change from preparation for protection against the results of wars to the present aim - which deals mainly with the results of natural and anthropogenic disasters. At the same time the problems and drawbacks in this field of education have emerged. They are exemplified by present results of research into human protection education in extraordinary events in primary schools. There is an obvious link between education in solving critical situations and extraordinary events and education in outdoor physical training.

    We compared training, anthropometric, physiological and psychological characteristics between 14 cyclists, participants in a 24-hour mountain bike race and 12 runners, participants in a 7-day running ultra-marathon.

    Změny ve společnosti se po změně systému nevyhnuly ani skladbě předmětů na školách. Je známo, že čím je sofistikovanější společnost, tím je zranitelnější a náchylnější ke kolapsu. V příspěvku předkládáme několik poznatků vztahujících k historickému vzdělávání v oblasti Ochrany obyvatelstva.
